In this video, we use hirigana, because it easier for young children to read. But you could also kanji (or Chinese characters). They are all spoken (or sung) in the same way. Hope that helps!

- Super Simple Songs - Kids Songs: @Hayley M Good question. It's not really a pause. There are basically three syllables there. "み" "ん" "な". ("Mi" "n" "na"). You have the nasal "n" sound from "ん" plus the nasal "n" sound at the start of "な”. If you sing "Mi" "n" "na", you can hear how it kind of sounds like a pause, but really it's just pronouncing all three syllables.
